No More Monday Blues — or News

It’s the first Monday of the new year. I thought I’d turn on the news. On my giant football TV.

In 22 minutes during the 7 o’clock hour, I actually saw nothing resembling the news other than a ticker running along the bottom of the screen. The three main channel news morning shows were a barrage of commercials, dating app advice, social media influencers’ top picks, more dating app advice, cooking tips from a non-chef celebrity, and one interview with a New Yorker speaking doom over the future of America.

I clicked to a morning football show. I heard hope, realism, and what I needed to know for the week ahead. The pontificators were informed and articulate.

Hmmm, so no news must be good news, football is awesome, and tomorrow I will skip the TV and go to the gym.

Note to self: Use time wisely.
